Obesity is one of the most common and unattended problems of a lot of people all over the world. The gastric bypass surgery is a weight loss surgery which is done by re-aligning the obese person’s small intestines into a smaller stomach pouch, which also aims to make the person feel full with less food intake.
Some of the known positive effects of bariatric surgery are the effective loss of weight for the long term, recovery from life-threatening diseases associated with obesity such as diabetes, lessened exposure from factors which cause cardiovascular problems and a 40% increased chance of living longer. One of the requirements for an obese person to be recommended for bariatric surgery is a body mass index (BMI) of 40 and 35 for people who have other medical conditions like diabetes along with obesity.
